World’s fastest jet tenders get the ultimate on-board fire protection
Williams Performance Tenders build some of the fastest tenders on the market. The company pioneered the world’s first 4-stroke jet tender back in 2004 and since then has developed a reputation for quality and safety across its entire range.
Each tender is hand-built by craftsmen to exacting standards using the finest available materials and components. So it’s no surprise that when it came to on-board fire protection, the company insisted on only the very best automatic fire suppression system being fitted as a standard feature.
Nobel Fire Systems, the UK’s leading supplier of fire protection and fire suppression systems were approached and has won the contract to supply G60T Stat-X units to all Williams Performance Tenders for engine compartment protection.
Installation of the Stat-X units requires no pipework or nozzles and the aerosol fire extinguisher units are placed in direct proximity to the area being protected. The Stat-X aerosol fire extinguisher units are sized for volume protection and are extremely compact, intensely efficient and cost effective to install, a key factor in Williams decision to turn to Nobel Fire Systems for this solution.
“This type of Aerosol Fire Extinguisher System unit is environmentally friendly with zero ozone depletion and zero global warming potential. They can present a very cost effective alternative to traditional gas suppression systems with superior suppression performance, space and weight savings, combined to the ease of installation. All important considerations for the team at Williams Performance Tenders”.
In the event of a fire, Stat-X generators can be activated either manually or automatically via the integrated thermal detector. On activation, the generators produce an exceptionally effective, ultra-fine, potassium based aerosol. Unlike gaseous systems, Stat-X aerosol generators are very cost effective to install and maintain – as they do not require the pressure vessels, piping or expensive installation costs associated with other extinguishing systems. Space and weight requirements are minimal and, in many applications, the small size of the Stat-X aerosol generators makes them the only viable option. On an agent weight basis, Stat-X aerosol is ten times more effective than gaseous agent alternatives. Fire suppression is rapidly achieved through interference between the ultra-fine aerosol particulate and the flame’s free radicals – terminating propagation of the fire. Stat-X aerosol generators are virtually maintenance free and have a shelf life of over 10 years. This, coupled to their very low installation cost, makes them an extremely cost effective fire protection solution for numerous applications.
