Service Engineer

Based at:

Nobel Fire Systems. 7 Quest Park, Moss Hall Road, Heywood, Lancashire, BL9 7JZ. Opportunities exist for service engineers based both out of our HQ in Lancashire, covering the North and Midlands, as well as for positions based in the South covering the South East and South West.

Service & Small works of Fire Suppression systems

Job Summary:

The work requires an individual to carry out the detailed service of active fire suppression systems and in the event of finding upgrades or anomalies detail out the work requirement and carry out the upgrades required at that time or if works are more extensive at a later date. Dependent on the service position applied for the service area will either be predominantly Midlands and/or North or predominantly South East and South West, but some working in other regions may be required to supplement our national service team activities. There is plenty of scope for increased responsibilities once the competencies and skill sets required are demonstrated. This is a busy position with a high level of responsibility and commitment required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To attend sites around North/Midlands following a schedule of pre-planned service visits.
  • To assess the fire suppression systems electrical 12-24VDC control, detection systems and 240VDC power supplies plus full mechanical function, check, test and verify the correct operational integrity.
  • Carry out an assessment of the immediate risk to ensure the fire suppression system is still fit for purpose and is still capable of providing its initial intended function.
  • Using a supplied Service Tablet, follow and fill out the companies Service check sheets to ensure that a record and a service history of the fire system is collated and maintained.
  • Flag non-conformances and detail the works required to make rectification works.
  • Liaise with the client to ensure that they are abreast of the service requirements and seek their interaction where needed to ensure all the required service checks and tests have been carried out.
  • Reporting into the Service manager and with the service team ensure that communication from site is properly recorded and that the clients’ interests are looked after.
  • Build and strengthen customer relations throughout with the delivery of consistent quality work and communication.
  • Develop and maintain your knowledge relevant to fire industry standards and practices.
  • Attend skills and update training on all the types of fire system NFS work on.
  • Offer & seek technical help and support to and from our engineering team.
  • Be responsive to call outs for site trouble shooting and system actuations on a weekend rotation basis with the Service and Engineering teams.
  • The person will need to work away for scheduled services away from their home address.
  • The person will be based at home with regular visits made into the warehouse to restock and liaise with the Service manager and team.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • The candidate will have sound engineering experience on simple electrical installation and strong mechanical skills.

Training:

The person will be given extensive training commensurate to their existing skills and will undergo 1-3 months on installation teams to gain a more in-depth experience of the fire systems they will be working on. This hands-on training will be coupled to office based training on all types of fire suppression systems.

Based at:

Headquarters at Nobel Fire Systems. 7 Quest Park, Moss Hall Road, Heywood, Lancashire, BL9 7JZ. Vacancies both for engineers primarily covering the North/Midlands and for engineers primarily covering the South. Although in either case requires flexibility to on occasion, work anywhere in the UK

Reports to:

Installation Supervisor/ Project engineers/ Operations Manager

Responsbile for:

Fire suppression system installations

Job Summary:

The work requires an individual to carry out mechanical and electrical installations of fire suppression systems throughout the whole of the UK. Depending on the work, the individual may be required to work alone, although normally as part of a team to offer installation and technical support, demonstrations and attend emergency call outs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Mechanical and electrical installation of fire suppression systems throughout the whole of the UK.
  • Attend emergency call outs to repair faults or carry out system recharges.
  • Commission and demonstrate fire suppression systems to end users.
  • Be responsible for timely completion of system installations.
  • Work alone or in teams of 2 – 3
  • Offer technical support to system end users.
  • Organise, plan and maintain vehicle materials stock, plant and equipment.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • The candidate will have a minimum of 3 years experience working in a similar role. 
  • Sound knowledge of fire detection and fire suppression systems.
  • A real attention to detail.
  • A desire to produce high quality work.
  • A strong communicator.
  • A strong structured method of working.
  • A self-starter with an independent approach to their work.
