What do Kelloggs think about Nobel Fire Systems? They’re gr-r-reat!!!

That was the response from the people at Kelloggs production facility near Wrexham after Nobel installed one of their K-Series fire suppression system in the kitchen of the on-site staff canteen. The site began producing breakfast cereals in 1978 and since then it has developed to become the fourth largest Kellogg’s cereal plant in the world employing approximately 500 people with the majority working on a 5-shift continuous rota basis.
And it was that very fact meant that Nobel had to carry out all the installation work at a time when the staff would be least inconvenienced. So the Nobel team of installers agreed with the specialist Fire Safety contractors, Scarff Fire Safety of Colwyn Bay, that all work would be carried out in four hour shifts over a two day period to ensure minimum interference as far as the canteen and the all important Kelloggs workers were concerned.
While the flexibility to work around the needs of the kitchen staff was of paramount importance, the proven efficiency and overall costs of the K-Series system were also taken into consideration by the contractors. The system needed to be installed quickly and Nobel exceeded all expectations by delivering and installing in just two days. An additional benefit is that the K-Series system has also provided an aesthetically pleasing kitchen environment with no ugly pipework or protruding nozzles on show.
In this incredibly busy and energetic kitchen, fire prevention and protection is very high on the list of requirements. Scarff Fire Safety therefore required a supplier whose system would provide the highest possible standards of protection while also providing sensible economic savings in both installation time and overall cost. Nobel Fire Systems excelled in every criteria.
Nobel’s award winning K-Series is one of the UK’s premier wet chemicals kitchen fire suppression systems providing full protection to all cooking appliances, extract canopies and duct work. Already installed in many of the UK’s and European leading commercial kitchens, K-Series continues to underline its ability to provide the right fire suppression answers to the most challenging situations.
Nobel’s K-Series fire protection systems are engineered to meet the specific individual requirements of the kitchen being protected. The systems are electronically controlled with no mechanical moving parts. Installations comprise of one or a number of stainless steel cylinders, each containing a highly effective F class wet chemical liquid designed specifically for fast flame knock down and fire suppression. The low, near neutral pH value of the liquids ensures that there is no damage to the commercial kitchen appliances, and as a direct consequence of the efficiency of K-Series in limiting the volume of liquid required to control the situation, there is minimal clean-up requirements following discharge.
Every system is designed following a comprehensive risk assessment taking into account the requirement of successful fire suppression and a client’s interruption potential.
