Nobel installs third K-Series for world’s largest on-line retailer

Nobel Fire Systems has installed its K-Series fire suppression system in the staff restaurant kitchen at the Amazon Distribution Centre at Rugley, Staffordshire. It’s the third to be installed at an Amazon facility in the last 12 months, the other two being Amazon’s UK warehouses at Gourock, Scotland and at Peterborough in Cambridgeshire.

Amazon is the world’s largest online retailer so small wonder that the company takes care to protect its warehousing and distribution facilities with the best fire suppression system on the market.
Nobel worked closely on the installation with Maintaining Projects Ltd and provided the flexibility to work around their needs of providing a turnkey service to Amazon on all aspects of the overall staff kitchen project.

The proven efficiency and overall costs of the K-Series system already installed in the two other facilities were carefully taken into consideration by Amazon and their advisors. The work was carried out by Nobel’s dedicated team of installation engineers and any potential disruption was minimised by working around the specific needs of the distribution centre.

Nobel’s K-Series fire protection systems are engineered to meet the specific individual requirements of the kitchen being protected. The systems are electronically controlled with no mechanical moving parts and are installed in stainless steel to enhance the working life and endurance of the product.

As aesthetic appearance is now often an important factor in the overall design process of commercial kitchens, all pipework, nozzles fire detection and controls are installed to comply with the desired appearance, functionality and hygienic requirements of individual kitchens.

The K-Series system is C.E. Marked and is approved and certified to LPS 1223; ISO 15371:2000. Marine type approval includes Lloyds; MCA; ABS; DNV; GL; RINA; Korean Register and BV.

Ben Parker, Commercial Director of Nobel Fire Systems commented, “We’re delighted to continue our close business relationship with both MPL and Amazon and look forward to partnering both in more projects in the future”.
