Nobel Fire Systems Wins Warehouse Extension Project

With over 450 stores across the UK, Sports Direct is an important and influential sporting retailer. No wonder then that the company put great emphasis on ensuring that its new warehouse extension in South Yorkshire is fully protected against the danger of fire.
To ensure maximum protection, the UK’s leading fire suppression company, Nobel Fire Systems has installed a complete suppression system in three key areas of the extension, complimenting the existing system in the original part of the warehouse.
From an original consultation and site survey held with the fire alarm company Professional Fire Systems, Nobel designed and installed an IG541 inert gaseous fire suppression system to meet site requirements.
Nobel installed the system in the generator room, the low voltage switch room and the IT server room. Each room is protected by an individual suppression system all of which are linked to the main warehouse fire alarm system.
Using IG541 presented the best option for this risk considering all of the systems available to us with consideration given to safety, the environment, physical onsite restraints and of course financial implications. In particular IG541 is an environmentally friendly system and in a busy warehouse manned around the clock it was paramount that the suppression medium chosen was completely safe in normally occupied areas.
The system is designed to the latest British standards and codes of practice and to the manufacturers design, installation and commissioning procedures.
Commenting on the project, Ben Parker, Nobel’s Commercial Director said,
“We have extensive experience and over 30 years of reliable, proven technology in developing fire suppression systems aimed specifically at special risk environments like this. Sports Direct is a major UK company and we’re delighted to have had the opportunity of working with them on their warehouse extension project.”
