Nobel Fire Systems protects British heritage Hotel
Sited beneath the ramparts of Windsor Castle, The Sir Christopher Wren Hotel holds a unique place in British heritage – and over the years, it has been meticulously restored to offer guests the highest levels of comfort and service.
Similarly, the Hotel restaurant boasts the ultimate in fine dining, with the highest standards of modern European cuisine available.
And behind the scenes, the same attention to detail has been applied. The owners recognised that a contributory success factor to the restaurant would be the design, look and functionality of the ‘commercial’ kitchen, providing a working environment that the restaurant staff can be proud of. Safety was of course top of the list when the kitchen was recently refurbished as it’s a known fact that in today’s commercial kitchens, high temperature cooking oils and an increasing variety of kitchen appliances combine to make efficient and reliable fire suppression increasingly challenging. Taking the advice of Allianz Insurance, the Hotel owners have therefore installed Nobel Fire Systems, ‘K-Series’ to facilitate complete kitchen protection. Now this historic building, its staff and guests are protected against the possibility of fire.
Another huge benefit of installing Nobel’s K-Series is that the restaurant kitchen hasn’t had to compromise by fitting a fire suppression system that jarred with the overall aesthetics. Some systems require pipework to be boxed in or hidden while nozzles protrude and are not manufactured in stainless steel to fit in with the overall look and feel of the kitchen. Not so with the K-Series. The system meets all the aesthetic qualities required, while also holding an enviable reputation for product efficiency and levels of service within the catering industry. An additional positive as far as the Hotel was concerned was the fact that the complete fire suppression system was able to be fitted quickly and efficiently by one of Nobel Fire Systems in-house installation teams. Work was carried out overnight to ensure no kitchen downtime, and completed in time for a full breakfast service to be available to hotel guests.
The Nobel Fire Systems K-Series is now in many of the UK’s and European leading commercial kitchens, underlining its ability to provide the right fire suppression answers to the most challenging situations. As in the case of the Sir Christopher Wren Hotel, the K-Series fire protection systems are engineered to meet the specific individual requirements of the kitchen being protected.
Every system is designed following a comprehensive risk assessment taking into account the requirement of successful fire suppression and a client’s interruption potential.
