Nobel Fire Systems achieves Olympian Status

Chobham Academy is a new all-ages school in the London 2012 Olympic Park. The school is due to open in September 2013 with a specialism in literature and the performing arts. In addition, the school will provide education and community facilities for the 3,500 new homes in Stratford, East London after the Olympic Games. During the Olympic Games the facility will be used as an operations centre for the Village.
Given the nature and usage of the Academy, the developers through their specialist contractor, GS Catering, have appointed Nobel Fire Systems to design and install a fire suppression system that will fully protect the on-site kitchen.
As work on the whole development is still on-going, it’s been of paramount importance that Nobel could demonstrate flexibility in order to work around the needs of the total project. At the same time, the proven efficiency and overall costs of the chosen K-Series system have also been taken into consideration by the contractors. An additional benefit is that the K-Series system will provide an aesthetically pleasing kitchen environment with no ugly pipework or protruding nozzles on show.
Once open, the kitchen in the Chobham Academy is expected to be incredibly busy and in this energetic and potentially dangerous environment, fire prevention and protection is very high on the list of requirements. GS Catering therefore required a supplier whose system would provide the highest possible standards of protection while also providing sensible economic savings in both installation time and overall cost. Nobel Fire Systems excelled in every criterion.
Nobel’s award winning K-Series is one of the UK’s premier wet chemicals kitchen fire suppression systems providing full protection to all cooking appliances, extract canopies and duct work. Already installed in many of the UK’s and European leading commercial kitchens, K-Series continues to underline its ability to provide the right fire suppression  answers to the most challenging situations.
Nobel’s K-Series fire protection systems are engineered to meet the specific individual requirements of the kitchen being protected. The systems are electronically controlled with no mechanical moving parts. Installations comprise of one or a number of stainless steel cylinders, each containing a highly effective F class wet chemical liquid designed specifically for fast flame knock down and fire suppression. The low, near neutral pH value of the liquids ensures that there is no damage to the commercial kitchen appliances, and as a direct consequence of the efficiency of K-Series in limiting the volume of liquid required to control the situation, there is minimal clean-up requirements following discharge.
Every system is designed following a comprehensive risk assessment taking into account the requirement of successful fire suppression and a client’s interruption potential.
