Glasgow Restaurant Kitchen protected by Nobel

Proving once again that its K-Series fire suppression system is the number 1 choice for the restaurant and catering industry, Nobel Fire Systems has fitted its system in the kitchen of the Pesto Restaurant in Glasgow – famed for introducing the concept of Italian piattini into the country. Located on Glasgow’s lively St Vincent Street, the restaurant was recently placed second in the Best New Restaurant category at the Scottish Entertainment Guide Awards and is now regarded as one of Scotland’s best up-and-coming Italian restaurants.

The restaurant is situated in the landmark former John Smith Bookshop building in St Vincent Street and was the subject of an exquisite £1 million refurbishment. It now offers freshly cooked food and carefully selected wines in a warm relaxed atmosphere.

The development programme required that the fire suppression system met the aesthetic qualities of the newly refurbished kitchen within the demanding appearance, functionality and hygiene criteria set out by Pesto’s refurbishment team. From the outset it was made clear that there was to be no compromise regarding the look of the kitchen by fitting a fire suppression system that was at odds with the aesthetics.

While a number of systems were initially considered, it was the Nobel Fire Systems K-Series which met all the aesthetic qualities required as well as providing a cost-effective and totally efficient fire suppression system. It is this combination plus an overall level of customer service that has ensured that Nobel continues to enjoy an enviable reputation within the catering industry. Another positive as far as the commissioning team was concerned is the fact that the chosen fire suppression system could be fitted quickly and efficiently.

The Nobel Fire Systems K-Series is now fitted in many of the UK’s and European leading commercial kitchens, underlining its ability to provide the right fire suppression answers to the most challenging situations. As in the case of Pesto’s Glasgow restaurant, the K-Series fire protection systems are engineered to meet the specific individual requirements of the kitchen being protected. Every system is designed following a comprehensive risk assessment taking into account the requirement of successful fire suppression and a client’s interruption potential.

Commercial Director of Nobel Fire Systems, Ben Parker commented. “The kitchen in this new restaurant is now protected by a system that has proved its effectiveness in commercial kitchen environments throughout Europe. We are delighted to have been a part of this exciting development. The flexibility of our K-Series system in terms of meeting the critical appearance, functionality and hygiene criteria posed by Pesto’s catering specialists really shone through and we’re delighted to have contributed to what is a fantastic project”.
