Food Production - Case Study
Bettys and Taylors of Harrogate
Bettys and Taylors of Harrogate is the company behind the famous Bettys tea rooms, Taylors of Harrogate coffee, and the Yorkshire Tea brand.
At Bettys production facility, five of their large industrial ovens were protected only by manual extinguishers. Nobel were very fortunate to be invited in to design a fixed and automated watermist system by incumbent sprinkler company Armstrong Priestley, who recommended Nobel for the task having sub-contracted work to us on numerous previous occasions.
After an extensive site assessment, it was initially perceived that Bettys might need five individual watermist systems for each oven. However, upon further analysis, we proposed a solution that was both economical and effective: the installation of a singular directional High Pressure Watermist system capable of safeguarding all five ovens.
Nobel’s innovative approach meant utilising the plant room on the floor directly above the risk areas for all fire suppression equipment. This allowed us to efficiently use existing penetrations through the concrete floor, running pipes directly above each oven. This strategic positioning ensured maximum protection and efficiency.
Working with Bettys’ team, particularly the Facilities Manager, was a seamless experience, with the coordination proving crucial in facilitating the integration with the oven penetration company, further establishing a foundation for potential collaborations.
