Nobel Fire Systems, one of the UK’s leading fire suppression specialists has been chosen by Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, one of the biggest children’s hospitals in Europe, to install its K-Series fire protection system in the hospital’s new main kitchen. dedicated main kitchens.
Mindful of the fact that in the highly combustible environment of commercial kitchens, the safety of staff and patients is of paramount importance, the hospital has ensured that all unnecessary risk has been eliminated by installing Nobel Fire Systems fire suppression units in all critical parts of the kitchen equipment making it well and truly fit for purpose.
The recommendation to talk to Nobel Fire Systems in the first place came from one of the UK’s top three general insurers, Allianz Insurance. Allianz continually carries out detailed reviews of available services, products and quality standards relating to fire suppression systems in commercial kitchens. The outstanding capabilities demonstrated by Nobel Fire Systems, plus positive feed-back from existing customers has led to Nobel attaining Allianz ‘Preferred Supplier’ status. As such, the leading insurance company had no hesitation in recommending to Alder Hey that they discuss their fire suppression needs with Nobel. Working to demanding budgets across the entire project, Nobel Fire Systems were able to satisfy all cost and operational needs by installing their K-Series, the UK’s premier wet chemicals kitchen fire suppression system.
The Nobel K-Series has provided Alder Hey with full protection to its entire kitchen cooking appliances, extract canopy and duct work. As with all such projects, Nobel Fire Systems ensured that the entire installation was carried out with speed and efficiency, keeping any potential ‘down time’ to an absolute minimum. “Our kitchen and catering facilities provide 1200 quality meals daily and protection of these key assets and facilities which form the core of our patient, staff and visitor services, was essential.” said Paul Fenton of Alder Hey’s estates department. “Nobel Fire were recommended to us to carry out the necessary fire protection works with minimum fuss and disruption. “The installation of fire suppression equipment to high risk cooking equipment was carried out overnight after the kitchen closed for the day and was completed in time for Breakfast service the next morning with no disruption to patient or staff services.” Ben Parker, Commercial Director of Nobel Fire Systems commented, we’re really pleased to have worked with Alder Hey on this project and that they had the confidence to choose our products for this critically important protection of the hospital kitchens. We carry out a lot of work in the public sector and have installations in many school and hospital kitchens throughout the UK. None of us can afford to be complacent when it comes to fire risk and safety issues because as we well know, complacency can have devastating consequences.
