Nobel prescribes K-Series fire suppression for Teva UK Limited
One of the UK’s biggest pharmaceutical companies, Teva UK Limited has turned to Nobel Fire Systems for a complete fire suppression system to be fitted in the kitchen of its on-site restaurant in West Yorkshire. The work was commissioned through Kitchenquip who have worked with Nobel on other prestigious contracts of this kind.
Teva and Kitchenquip are acutely aware of the health and safety responsibilities when it comes to the bustling, energetic environment of commercial kitchens and within this, fire prevention and protection is high on the list of requirements. Working together and recognising all the potential problems, Nobel has fitted its K-Series system which provides Teva with the highest possible standards of fire risk protection within the restaurant environment.
Because time was at a premium, Nobel completed the installation of its K-Series system in a single day, not quite a record, but certainly impressive. This rapid installation time allowed Teva to concentrate on running its vital pharmaceutical business with the absolute minimum of disruption.
The fire risk solution came after initial consultation and examination of the canteen facility. The Nobel ‘K-Series’ is one of the UK’s premier wet chemicals kitchen fire suppression systems and provides Teva with full protection to all cooking appliances, extract canopy and duct work.
The system is electronically controlled with no mechanical moving parts. Installation comprises of a stainless steel cylinder containing a highly effective F class wet chemical liquid designed specifically for fast flame knock down and fire suppression. The low, near neutral pH value of the liquid ensures that there is no damage to the kitchen appliances, and as a direct consequence of the efficiency of K-Series in limiting the volume of liquid required to control the situation, there is minimal clean-up requirements following discharge. And the benefits don’t stop there. The commissioning team didn’t want have a system fitted that then jarred with the overall aesthetics of the kitchen. Part of the brief was that ugly pipework and protruding nozzles manufactured in cheap looking copper or brass plating were definitely off the menu for this particular canteen. The Nobel K-Series meets all the aesthetic qualities required.
The Nobel Fire Systems K-Series is now in many of the UK’s and European leading commercial kitchens, underlining its ability to provide the right fire suppression answers to the most challenging situations.
As in the case of Teva, the K-Series fire protection systems are engineered to meet the specific individual requirements of the kitchen being protected.
Every system is designed following a comprehensive risk assessment taking into account the requirement of successful fire suppression and a client’s interruption potential.
