Nobel’s K-Series wins university challenge

Balliol 2
Situated right in the centre of Oxford, Balliol College has an incredible heritage dating back to 1263 making it the oldest college at Oxford University. It hosts a thriving academic community of around 700 undergraduate and graduate students with an additional 65 Fellows and 120 staff.
College Members and staff recently celebrated the completion of Balliol’s “Kitchen Project”, a project that has seen the catering kitchen completely refurbished to provide a bright, modern environment in which award winning Executive Head Chef, Bertrand Faucheux and his staff operate.
Catering for such a large numbers of students and staff is never easy but even so, during term time Balliol provides lunch and dinner every day of the week and even puts on special occasions such as College Guest Nights on a regular basis.
Making well educated decisions has never been a problem for the College and when it came to deciding on ventilation and fire suppression systems for the new kitchen, they turned to the best in the business.  Working in close partnership with Exoair who designed and installed the ventilated ceiling, Nobel Fire Systems has installed its award winning K-Series fire suppression system in order to meet the high end aesthetic requirements of the kitchen design.
Balliol reflect the growing trend that’s being seen in commercial kitchens around the world. When it comes to fire protection the demands of kitchen designers are continually evolving. They have grown from simply specifying a functional system that will suppress a fire, to one of now requiring even greater functionality but which is also linked to an installation that helps maintain the mood and drama of the overall kitchen design. In other words, designers and operators don’t want the fresh, exciting look of their new kitchens to be destroyed by extended pipe drops, brackets and nozzles dangling from ceilings or canopies.
Nobel’s K-Series System perfectly combines cutting edge aesthetic design with the most efficient suppression capability available. It’s designed to blend and integrate seamlessly into any kitchen environment and be practically invisible.
State of the art electrically operated components means there’s no reliance on outdated mechanical technology. In fact, K-Series is the only electrical system on the market and can often provide remote commissioning, diagnosis and fault fixing without the need for an engineer to attend on-site.  This ability to continually monitor itself, consequently ensuring the integrity of the system, is a huge advantage in achieving the fundamental requirement that the system performs when called on to do so. The system monitoring has the additional benefit of reducing servicing requirements to once a year, with all the associated cost savings that come with it.
At Nobel the entire focus is on fire suppression technologies for special risk environments and the company has built a winning reputation within the global catering industry. The in-house design team and installation engineers ensure quality control is maximised and thousands of existing customers in the catering industry are testimony to the effectiveness of Nobel’s service and product capabilities.
In the education sector, Balliol College are one of a number of such establishments that have turned to Nobel’s K-Series. Others include Harrow School, Manchester Grammar School, Chetham’s School of Music, Liverpool Hope University, University of Sheffield and Malvern St James Private Girls School.
Catering businesses like Claridge’s, Caprice Holdings Group, Jamie Oliver, Holiday Inn, The Chiltern Firehouse, KFC, and many other famous brands continue to install the industry leading K-Series fire suppression systems in their kitchens.
Aesthetic appeal, reliability, flexibility of product and people, global reputation, and the award winning K-Series system with its extended ductwork protection capability are some of the key reasons why Nobel Fire Systems has become the acknowledged fire suppression market leader for catering kitchens across the globe.
