Toyota Material Handling

Corenso Group is one of the world’s leading producers of high-performance cores and tubes and high-quality coreboards. Their range of products can be big, bulky and heavy. So when they needed to evaluate the best solutions to their material handing issues, they turned to Toyota Material Handling. The result was seven new Toyota counterbalance forklifts delivered to meet the specific needs of all Corenso’s internal transport applications.

Forklifts are expensive pieces of equipment and have to work extremely hard to earn their keep. They’re on the go day and night and  both Toyota and Corenso agreed that a definite requirement was to immediately protect the engine compartments on all the forklifts from the possibility of fire damage by retro-fitting the very best fire suppression system available.

The answer came in the form of Nobel Fire System’s Stat-X condensed aerosol system. After careful analysis of the requirement, Nobel fitted Stat-X self-contained 100g thermal units to each of the forklifts. These particular units don’t have the need for a control panel for actuation and the thermal heads are set at 70 degree C. This means that the forklift operator can get on with the job without having to worry about the potential risk of fire in the engine compartment.

The end result has provided Corenso with a fire suppression system that will fully protect the engine compartments of the forklifts while at the same time provides a system that is both economical and environmentally friendly. Stat-X has zero ozone depletion and zero global warming potential.

The other big advantage is the compactness of the units in what is a relatively confined space on the Toyota forklifts and of course the fact that the system can easily and quickly be retro-fitted by Nobel’s experienced installation team as a stand alone fire suppression system.

As far as Corenso is concerned, now that the units have been fitted, they are virtually maintenance free and have a proven ‘shelf life’ of 10 years.

One of the guiding Toyota principles is Genchi Genbutsu, or going to the source of the facts to make correct decisions. In this case there’s no doubt that the correct decision regarding fire protection has been made.
