Nobel Fire Systems help keep Boodle’s noble gentry safe

Nobel Fire Systems has joined forces with Boodle’s as the world famous gentlemen’s club totally refurbishes its St. James’s Street premises. Founded in 1762 by Lord Shelburne the future Marquess of Lansdowne and Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, the club was named after its then head waiter Edward Boodle. Past notable members of the club include Sir Winston Churchill, David Niven, Ian Fleming and the great fashion icon, Beau Brummell.
The Boodle’s management team has always recognised that in the highly combustible environment of commercial kitchens, the safety of staff and customers can be put at unnecessary risk if there is not sufficient fire prevention and protection in place. The recent refurbishment work provided the opportunity for the Club to further enhance its fire protection throughout the kitchen area. Now, members can relax in the comfort of this exclusive club secure in the knowledge that this aspect of their personal safety has been taken care of.
Nobel Fire Systems won the contract to install new fire suppression systems in the kitchens of the club following a lengthy selection process, and after convincing the club’s fire safety representatives that their pioneering fire suppression systems were both functional and flexible enough to meet the total requirements of the project.
Having established the ultimate fire suppression system, the K-Series, Nobel then fitted the perfect fire ‘prevention’ system, the AX-E System. It was critically important that the Nobel systems met all the aesthetic qualities required by Boodle’s as well as being fitted quickly and efficiently by Nobel Fire Systems installation teams. Combining the systems provided the perfect solution.
Fitted in many of the UK’s and European leading commercial kitchens,  the K-Series has conclusively underlined its ability to provide the right fire suppression answers to the most challenging situations. As in the case of Boodle’s, the K-Series fire protection systems are engineered to meet the specific individual requirements of the kitchen being protected.
K-Series offers unrivalled capabilities and service, providing full protection to all cooking appliances, extract canopies and duct work. The systems are electronically controlled with no mechanical moving parts. Installations comprise of one or a number of stainless steel cylinders, each containing a highly effective F class wet chemical liquid designed specifically for fast flame knock down and fire suppression. The low, near neutral pH value of the liquids ensures that there is no damage to the commercial kitchen appliances, and as a direct consequence of the efficiency of K-Series in limiting the volume of liquid required to control the situation, there is minimal clean-up requirements following discharge.
Every system is designed following a comprehensive risk assessment taking into account the requirement of successful fire suppression and a client’s interruption potential.
Nobel Fire Systems patented AX-E system instantly provides kitchens with maximum fire prevention, a safe, clean and hygienic working environment, and critically important,  potential savings of circa 66% on both time and cost of installation versus alternative products.
The AX-E system has been designed to operate in four key areas.

  1. Eradication of grease. The system is automatically programmed to meet the specific needs of a kitchen. An ultra fine mist is released at set intervals. The mist which consists of a proven biological liquid, specifically formulated to brake down and remove fatty deposits in the canopy and ducting ensures there is no build up of grease.
  2. Odour control. The continuous elimination of fats and greases in the canopy, extraction and ventilation system effectively removes the sources of foul odours. If required, essential oils can be introduced to further improve the environment whilst cooking.
  3. Enhanced cleanliness. The AX-E system can be fitted to cover an entire commercial kitchen. This provides a level of coverage far beyond that offered by manual cleaning. In addition, the system can be automatically regulated to ensure continuous cleaning.
  4. Reduced fire risk. The AX-E system significantly reduces the build up of grease and therefore the risk of fire in the whole of the canopy and extraction ducting. In turn, this reduces the chance of firespread to other parts of the building.

Stephen Carter at Boodles commented, “As one of the country’s leading Gentlemen’s Clubs we are absolutely passionate about standards, quality and provenance. We care about the physical environment in which our members relax and our staff operate. As such, safety issues are always on our agenda and we know from our own experience that working with Nobel Fire Systems means that fire suppression is one area that is well taken care of”.
